Bayan Resources

PT Bayan Resources Tbk is an Indonesia-based integrated coal mining company which founded by Low Tuck Kwong in 1973. When it was established the company engaged in civil works and construction business but since 1988 the company start to expand to mining coal business. Currently, the company is engaged in the business of surface open cut mining of thermal coal.

Bayan ResourcesAs an integrated coal producer in Indonesia, bayan also produces other grades of coal which comprise of environmentally friendly, low sulfur, sub-bituminous coal and semi-soft coking coal which located in east and south kalimantan. Through various companies, it has the exclusive rights to mine under five coal contracts of work (CCOW) and 13 mining business permit over a total concession area of 143,584 hectares. As of December 31, 2011, The company is supported by 12 direct subsidiaries which engaged in coal, namely PT Perkasa Inakakerta, PT Wahana Baratama Mining, PT Bayan Energy, PT Firman Ketaun Perkasa, PT Teguh Sinar Abadi, PT Metalindo Prosestama, PT Kaltim OTR Tyres, PT Fajar Sakti Prima, PT Bara Tabang, PT Brian Anjat Sentosa, PT Muji Lines and Kangaroo Resources Limited.

According to IDX, Bayan is the sixth largest producer and exporter of thermal coal in Indonesia. In a few next years Bayan will supply of 1 million tonnes of coal per annum for over 10 years toThermal Powertech Corporation - India and also supply of 1,5 million tonnes of coal per annum for over 10 years to GN Power Philippine. Enel Trade S.p.A, J. Aron & Co, Vitol Asia Pte Ltd and TNB Fuel Service Sdn Bhd are also the loyal customers of Bayan Resources Tbk

Bayan built large post and shipping facilities to distribute their products , namely Balikpapan Coal Terminal, Kalimantan Floating Transfer Station and Perkasa Inakakerta.



Balikpapan Coal Terminal starting operation in 1995 and currently become one of the largest coal terminals in Indonesia. The terminal has a handling throughput capacity of 15.0 million tonnes per annum and a stockpiling capacity of approximately one million tonnes across 16 stockpile. Kalimantan Floating Transfer Station is also become the largest bulk vessels in the world that carry coal—offshore. This floating transfer station can accept vessels up to Capesize (200,000 DWT) and can load such vessels at an installed capacity of 4,000 tonnes per hour. It can also load Panamax and smaller vessels as required. It accepts barges from 2,000 to 10,000 DWT and coal from two barges can be simultaneously unloaded. At Perkasa Inakakerta, coal from mine site is stocked at the jetty. The jetty has 4 stockpiles with capacity of 65,000 MT each. We are planning to have 4 more stockpiles of 65,000 MT each in the future. The jetty is equipped with crusher and barge loading conveyor.

Currently, the company lead by Eddie Chin Wai Fong as president director and Dr. Low Tuck Kwong as President Commissioner.Bayan Resources Tbk. sells coal primarily to industrial end-users, commodity trading companies, and agents.
