Cathay Pacific was founded in Hongkong in 1946. In 2013, the company will celebrate its 13th anniversary. At first, the establishment of the company is the initiative of Roy Farrell and Sydney de Kantzow. They began to operate passenger flights to Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai and Manila.

In a period of 2 years, precisely in 1948 - Swire Group or at the time called "Butterfield & Swire" take a share of 45% in the company. The company continues to grow and introduced the world’s first international services to Osaka, Fukuoka and Nagoya in Japan.

By the end of the 1970s, we had expanded our services to Europe and North America. During the 1980s, our international network grew even further, to include London, Brisbane, Frankfurt, Vancouver, Amsterdam, Rome, San Francisco, Paris, Zurich and Manchester.

Currently, Cathay Pacific become one of the leading global passenger and transport hubs in the world. The company connects to over 167 destinations worldwide and supported by 30,000 qualified human resources worldwide. Cathay operates 138 wide-body aircraft with an average age of less than 11 years, the type are: Boeing 747-400, Boeing 747- Freighter, Boeing777-300ER and Airbus Industrie A330-300. The air craft continues to be significantly modernise and they will add approximately 90 new aircraft including A330’s, A350-900, A350-1000, B777 and B747-8 and B777 Freighters
